The short answer
Oman shoppers can compare LuLu, HyperMax, Nesto and SPAR. Carrefour closed in Oman in January 2025 and HyperMax took over. Compare unit prices across flyers, and check delivery apps before you decide.
Quick facts
Chains to compare in Oman
A Muscat supermarket guide lists LuLu, HyperMax, Nesto and SPAR. It calls LuLu the main chain for grocery shopping in Muscat, describes Nesto as the budget option on staples and HyperMax as strong on European and imported products.
Treat these as the guide's opinion, not a price ranking. Prices change weekly, so run your own comparison.
HyperMax replaced Carrefour
Khaleej Times reports Carrefour closed in Oman on 7 January 2025. Majid Al Futtaim runs HyperMax in Oman. The article counts 44 HyperMax stores in Jordan and Oman together. If an old Carrefour flyer shows in your search, ignore it.
Delivery and apps
The Muscat guide mentions the HyperMax app with same-day delivery, Lulu Now with next-day or same-day slots, Talabat Mart and Instashop. Delivery fees and minimums vary, so compare the delivered total to the shelf total.
LuLu announced the Happiness programme in Oman in 2024, with registration at any LuLu outlet and an app for points, vouchers and receipts.
How to compare unit prices
The headline price on a flyer is for the pack, and packs come in different sizes. The fair way to compare is the price per kilo, per litre or per 100 grams. Many shelf labels print the unit price in small type. If not, work it out yourself.
For example, 5 kg of rice at OMR 3.200 is OMR 0.640 per kg, and 2 kg at OMR 1.400 is OMR 0.700 per kg. Keep three decimals when you compare. These numbers are an illustration, not current prices.
- Find the pack price and the pack size on the flyer.
- Convert the size to one unit: kilos, litres, or 100 g for small items.
- Divide the price by the size.
- Do the same for the other chain, or the other brand.
- Check the dates and whether the price needs a membership card.
- Pick the lowest unit price that you will actually finish before it expires.
Practical tips
- Check the date range on every flyer.
- Look for a weekly offer on staples and plan the stock-up for that week.
- Add Nesto to the comparison if you want a budget check.
- Use the delivery app only after comparing the delivered total.
- Register for LuLu Happiness at the till or in the app.
- Keep three decimals in OMR when you calculate.

How Fawz helps
Fawz is not released yet, and you can join the waiting list. When it is out, it compares supermarket flyer prices, so you see where an item is cheapest without opening six flyers.
At the till, Fawz suggests which of your cards or memberships to use. It also tracks minimum monthly spend and caps, so your grocery shop helps you reach the higher cashback rate. It never stores card numbers or bank logins and never reads SMS.
