Cheapest groceries in Kuwait with weekly flyers

The short answer

Kuwait shoppers can compare LuLu, The Sultan Center, HyperMax and the neighbourhood co-op societies. Carrefour closed in Kuwait in September 2025, so look for HyperMax. Compare by price per kilo or litre and read the flyer dates.

Quick facts

Chains to compare in Kuwait

A Kuwait property guide lists The Sultan Center, LuLu Hypermarket, Shameer Hypermarket and the co-op societies, among others. LuLu has stores in Kuwait, and its Happiness programme launched there with free sign-up.

Carrefour no longer operates in Kuwait. Khaleej Times reports that Majid Al Futtaim closed it on 16 September 2025 and launched HyperMax in Kuwait instead. If you search for old Carrefour flyers, you may see outdated ones.

Co-op societies

Co-op societies are member-owned, non-profit stores found in neighbourhoods across Kuwait, and many are open 24 hours. The guide says residents often choose them for affordability and convenience.

Their offers vary by society, so check the notice board or the society's own channels. Co-ops can be worth including in a price check for staples.

Reading Kuwait flyers

A WowDeals listing shows a Sultan Center catalogue called Deals You Can't Miss until 6 October. LuLu and HyperMax also publish offers. Compare at least two, and check the end dates.

Because prices are in dinars with three decimals, small differences matter. A difference of 100 fils on a kilo adds up across a month.

How to compare unit prices

The headline price on a flyer is for the pack, and packs come in different sizes. The fair way to compare is the price per kilo, per litre or per 100 grams. Many shelf labels print the unit price in small type. If not, work it out yourself.

For example, 5 kg of flour at KWD 1.750 is KWD 0.350 per kg, and 2 kg at KWD 0.800 is KWD 0.400 per kg. Write the dinars to three decimals so you do not round the difference away. These numbers are an illustration, not current prices.

  1. Find the pack price and the pack size on the flyer.
  2. Convert the size to one unit: kilos, litres, or 100 g for small items.
  3. Divide the price by the size.
  4. Do the same for the other chain, or the other brand.
  5. Check the dates and whether the price needs a membership card.
  6. Pick the lowest unit price that you will actually finish before it expires.

Practical tips

  • Search for HyperMax, not Carrefour, for the former Carrefour stores.
  • Join LuLu Happiness for member prices and points if you shop there often.
  • Add the nearest co-op to your price check for staples.
  • Check whether a premium chain's offer is on imported or fresh items you actually buy.
  • Read the end date and any limit per person.
  • Keep the receipt to compare with the flyer price.
