Esaad card in the UAE

MembershipUAELast checked

The short answer

Esaad is a discount and loyalty programme run by Dubai Police. You usually cannot just sign up. You check your eligibility with your Emirates ID, and the card then lives in the Esaad app as a QR code you show at partner shops.

Quick facts

What Esaad is

Esaad is a loyalty and discount programme run by Dubai Police. Cardholders get offers on travel, hotels, dining, retail, healthcare, education and telecom. According to Wego, the card is fully digital and lives in the Esaad app, where you show a QR code at checkout.

Who is eligible

Property Finder says you generally cannot apply for the card by choice. It is issued to people in eligible groups, through government entities, organisations or approved programmes. Wego lists the main groups.

Golden Visa holders are one of the groups expats most often ask about. Wego names 5-year and 10-year Golden Visa holders. Check the current list on the official portal before you rely on it.

  • Government employees, including Dubai Police staff
  • Military and civilian retirees
  • Senior citizens
  • People of Determination
  • Limited-income citizens
  • 5-year and 10-year Golden Visa holders
  • First-degree relatives of eligible holders

Family members

Wego says spouses, parents and children of an eligible holder can register, and that each adult dependent should set up their own profile instead of sharing one. Property Finder does not cover family members, so confirm on the portal.

How to register

Registration is online. Employees of participating bodies often have their HR team handle it. Others use the portal, enter their Emirates ID, and upload documents such as proof of residency. Wego says most applications are approved within 5 to 10 business days, so treat that as a rough guide only.

The eligibility check is on esaad.dubaipolice.gov.ae. We could not open that page when writing this guide, so follow its own instructions.

  1. Open the Esaad portal and enter your Emirates ID to check eligibility.
  2. Create an account and add your details. A Golden Visa holder needs the active visa, a passport scan and a photo, according to Wego.
  3. Upload any documents requested and submit.
  4. Wait for approval, then download the Esaad app and sign in.

Using the discounts

Open the app, browse the offers, and show the QR code at partner outlets. For online bookings you may get a promo code instead. Look at the offer before you go, because discounts and exclusions differ.

Terms matter. Jumbo Electronics gives Fazaa and Esaad holders coupon codes at checkout but says you must show your card when you collect the order, and the order can be cancelled if you cannot. Apparel Group lists Esaad among its accepted cards and says its offer cannot be used with any other discount or promotion.

Offers abroad and validity

Wego says Esaad has partner outlets in around 92 countries, including travel, healthcare and retail. Property Finder says some partner airlines and hotels accept the card abroad. We could not confirm the partner list or the percentages, so check the app offer for the country you are visiting.

Wego says the card stays valid while your qualifying status, such as a Golden Visa, stays active, with no separate yearly renewal. Check this in the app.

Esaad compared with Fazaa

People often ask which of the two is better. They are separate programmes with different owners and different eligibility, and they have many of the same partners. Apparel Group and Jumbo Electronics both accept both cards, and Jumbo uses the same terms for both.

The practical answer is to check the offer for the shop you are going to. Some partners give the same percentage to both, and some give different amounts. Pick whichever card you hold that has the better offer for that partner. If you only hold one, that settles it. Offers are listed in each app, so the quickest check is to open both apps and compare.

You usually cannot use two discount cards on one purchase. du says its Fazaa plan cannot be combined with Esaad, and Apparel Group says its offers cannot be combined with any other discount.

Before you go

Open the app before you shop and find the partner. Check the percentage, any minimum spend, the products it excludes and whether the offer works online as well as in the shop. Show the QR code before you pay, not after.

If you are travelling, look at the offers for your destination in the app a few days before you leave. Offers can have booking rules, and some need a promo code at the time of booking. Wego notes that for bigger purchases it helps to contact the partner directly so the discount is applied correctly.
